Iceland: New rules further enforce the Gender Equality Act
Iceland has introduced a new provision that further enforces Gender Equality Act No 10/2008. According to the law, men and women working for the same employer should be paid equal wages and receive equal terms of employment for conducting a job of equal or similar value.
The new provision requires employers with 25 or more employees to obtain an equal pay certification under the Equal Wage Management System, known as the Standard ÍST 85. The Standard ÍST 85 can be used for all operations regardless of size and industry.
