Netherlands: Equal Pay Bill
On 7 March 2019, a law proposal titled “Act on Equal Pay of women and men” was submitted to the Dutch Parliament. The Act aims to introduce a certification system to promote equal pay for women and men who undertake work of equal value.
The proposed bill stipulates that organisations with over 50 employees must adhere to the following measures:
- Obtain a certificate to prove that men and women in the same position are rewarded equally for the same number of hours worked
- Renew the certificate every three years by providing accurate figures on the salary of employees
- Provide an annual report about the differences in pay between employees who carry out work of equal value, including any instances of unequal pay
